An ATC with a Bubble Background

I love making ATC’s.  Not only are these trading card sized beauties fun to trade with other artists, but I use them on cards as well.  It makes it simple to make a card quickly when you already have the focal point done.

In making this ATC for Globecraft & Piccolo I used the following products:
Embossing Enamel in Mermaid Tears & Royal Sterling
ATC Bubble Background,LB101 (keep the pop out pieces!)
Distress Paint & Distress Marker in Seedless Preserves
Purple Pre-Made ATC card
Ranger Archival Ink in Jet Black
Tim Holtz Simple Sayings Stamp Set, CMS155
Scrap Piece of Complimentary Color Paper

First, I covered the ATC Bubble Background with Embossing Fluid and embossed it with Mermaid Tears.

I embossed the background a few times to get the coverage I wanted. Then I chose a few of the leftover pieces I had popped out of the Bubble Background and covered them in Embossing Fluid and embossed them with Royal Sterling (HINT: mark the piece on the correct side so when you emboss the piece it will fit correctly– ask me why I suggest this!).

Once everything was embossed, I fit the pop out pieces into the Bubble Frame and glued them in.  I did this by turning the Bubble Frame over and I spread some glue over the piece and the frame.  Since I knew I was going to attach this to an ATC I wasn’t too worried about the pieces falling out.  Once they dried, I just chose some areas on the Bubble Frame, dotted some glue and glued it onto the ATC card.  I also glued my ATC card to some left over cardboard to make it a bit more sturdy and then inked around the edges with the Seedless Preserves Distress Paint & filled in any gaps with the Seedless Preserves Distress Marker.

I inked my sentiment in the Jet Black ink, stamped it on a coordinating piece of scrap paper and trimmed it down.  I glued my sentiment to my ATC and I was done! Now I am all ready to pop this on a card when I want to remind someone I’m thinking of him or her.

This picture really shows the sparkle!

Colorful Butterfly ATC

I am in love with Globecraft & Piccolo’s Embossing Enamel.  The colors are amazingly vibrant, colorful and each one is blended by hand in the USA.  The color combinations are incredible! Trust me when I tell you the pictures cannot capture the true beauty of this powder.
Plus, you get a huge amount of powder for your money!  In the photo below I used a bottle of Distress Paint to illustrate how large the containers of the Embossing Enamel are:
Lots of yummy color!
I recently got some new colors and I always want to use my new goodies as soon as I get them, so I decided to make an ATC (artist trading card).
What I used to make my Butterfly ATC:
Decorative Paper
ATC blank

The first thing I did was use the Mars Black 3D Enamel Gel on the frame.  I just used it right out of the bottle.  The funny thing is the black comes out looking like a dark gray.
But it turns to a shiny deep black once it dries.  I set my frame out overnight covered with an extra bubble I had so no cats, or cat hair would get into it. I love how these frames are the perfect size for ATC's!

Then I took my butterfly blank and used a paintbrush to paint where I wanted the Embossing Enamel to adhere.  I use a paint brush so often that I actually poured some of the Embossing Fluid out of the bottle into a small, air tight container so I wouldn’t have to keep popping the top off of the applicator.  I brushed the fluid onto the butterfly blank and shook some Deep Blue Sky enamel onto the blank and heated until done.  I only used one layer of Enamel and I still got this awesome result:
Then I edged the butterfly in Royal Sterling Enamel, again using my paintbrush and embossing fluid.  When you use the fluid with a paintbrush you don’t have to re-dip the brush each time you use it- the brush retains a good amount of the fluid.  For the body I used Ruby Red Slippers – the butterfly is SO sparkly, I tried to capture it but it is very difficult.
See that bubble on the body? Popped it with a toothpick - POOF!
For my ATC I used a piece of cardboard from a mailing box.  You can get a lot of ATC’s from one box and they are sturdier than using just paper.  After I covered my cardboard with the decorative paper (I used a handmade paper in navy blue with little silver sparkles in it) I glued my frame and then my butterfly in the center.

I love the look of the multiple embossing enamels and I think the frame sort of holds it all together.  I hope you are getting some warmer weather where you are; I’m keeping an eye out for the real butterflies!
I am entering my butterfly ATC in the following challenges – please stop by and check out all the hard work these folks do to make the challenges possible!

Through the Trees ATC

I love this ATC – out of all the ATC's I have made this one is one of my very favorites. A few years ago, I acquired some card stock that looks like clouds to me.  Not big huge puffy clouds but nice low key wispy clouds and that’s what I used as my background.  You can also make your own sky by using some chalks on plain white card stock.  Then all I did was gather a bunch of scraps that were different shades of brown.  I used a tree punch I got from EK Success and punched out some trees; ripped some of the brown scrap to use as mountains and then just fooled around with the placement of everything until I liked it.  Glued everything down and that was it!

For the amount of time it took to make I think this is a pretty snazzy ATC – I hope you like it, too! I’d love to hear your comments – thank you so much for reading my posts today.

I am entering this project in the Simon Says Stamp &Show Kraft Challenge.

More Pink & Brown Goodies

I kind of got on a roll with this Pink & Brown color scheme – which is amazing considering pink is one of my least favorite colors. . . But, the muse was singing and I was listening so off we went.

To make the card I used a pale pink paper for the actual base (the same color that I used for the quote on the “Stars” board) and edged it with Distress Ink Brushed Corduroy.  I then die cut the outer frame from a Basic Grey paper from the Nook & Pantry set, called Chocolate Mousse. Inked the edges with my Brushed Corduroy and used one of the inner die cuts for the inside of the frame.  Added a few birds punched with a Martha Stewart punch and the little “flowers” on the corners are the most inner cut from the same die cut set (from Nellie’s Multi Frames).

Here is one picture of the Shabby Chic pink & brown card.

And another (because you know how hard it is for me to choose just ONE picture)

Finally, I couldn’t seem to stop myself so I finished off with an ATC.  I had this old ribbon I had bought and I thought that it would be awesome for the pink & brown challenge.  I cut the ribbon and glued it on a cut ATC card.  I die cut the little brackets, inked them with Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink and then topped them off with Inkssentials Glossy Accents.  I stamped out the word flower with an alphabet stamp set made to look like the old Dymo hand thingies (lol) using Frayed Burlap Distress Ink & then shaded around the letters with Brushed Corduroy.  Last but not least, I cut another butterfly out of the same ribbon, glued it to a piece of cardstock and popped it out with a tiny bit of a foam dot.  I think I am done with the pink & brown obsession.  I hope you had as much fun as I did and I’d LOVE to see some of your pink & brown goodies!  Leave your blog, flikr link or where ever you stash your crafty pics in your comment below (but please link to the actual project you want to share and not just to your blog, etc).

I figured I enter these 2 items in the Shabby Chic Pink & Brown Challenge at Unruly Paper Arts, too.
