Tim's 2015 Tags - July

I was waiting for the Americana set to get here and I was on pins and needles since I am going away July 21 to August 2, but thankfully the set came the other day & I got to work :)  I actually made a back-up tag just in case the set didn't come in time. Anyway, here is my take on Tim's July Tag:

As usual, I am not going through the process here, since you can find that on Tim's blog, but am going to list the things I improvised on.

• I used the American set THMB006, which is the mini blueprint set.
• I used every marker listed except Hickory Smoke - I don't have it, so I used Pumice Stone in place of it.
• For the loop pin, I used a Mini Paper Clip and Pin from Tim's Ideology line.
• I didn't have the star charm, so I took one out of my stash and colored it with a Krylon Silver Leafing Pen.
• I don't have a sewing machine (well I have 2, but am clueless on how to use them) so no sewing.
• I used a background paper from Glitz Designs, Beautiful Dreamer Polka, #BD3579
• No microglaze (on my wish list)
• My #4 was made with File Tabs, also from the Ideology Collection
• I cut the word Brave from a Redlead Paperworks stamp set called "She Knows all Things"

So here are some of my process photos, the three images all lined up before the sides were cut. And my ribbon, which came out purplish, so I guess I used too much blue and not enough red.  But it was fun anyway! 

I am really happy I bought this set, I can see many uses for the flag and the star, and I honestly can't wait to color the Statue of Liberty.  I thought you might want to see 
my backup tag that I made in case the stamp set didn't make it here on time. Not too bad, it would of worked, but I like the one I made to mimic Tim's much better. Frosty Love at Anything But a Card, #49

It's getting hotter here in Colorado so I decided to get a little frosty.  A local stamp store just had a tremendous sale on Memory Box dies and I got a bunch for a really good price (thank you Cathy at Simple Pleasures!) so I decided to get to playing with my toys right away.

This project was really simple to make and this is how I did it:

I have had this piece of scrap wood for some time and when I saw Challenge #49 at Anything But a Card was Anything Goes I knew it was time to use it. The hardest part of making this was folding the glitter paper. I used a generic manufacturer and I don't know if that had anything to do with the troubles I had, trying to fold the paper around the wood and get it to stay glued was quite an ordeal.  Fortunately, armed with my bulldog clips and waxed paper I got the job done.

The next step was die cutting the heart - I even saved all the little snowflakes! I used suede paper (sometimes called velvet paper) to make the heart. I trimmed around the heart and them mounted it on an oblong piece of scrap red paper, then mounted that onto the glitter paper.

Then I used my Silhouette to cut out the Love word out of of heavy silver cardstock and placed that on the piece.  Once that was dry I was done :) I felt like I bit into a York Peppermint Pattie - hehehe! I hope you enjoyed my "Frosty Love" project and that your summer (or winter) is going well. Mark Saturday, August 1st on your calendar NOW, because that's when the new 

challenge blog Twofers will be starting with our NEW CHALLENGES! 
The site is live now, so you can take a look and see what's going to be involved. 

The blog  is being run by myself, Zoe and Jane ~ if you take a 
look  at our blogs, you'll see that we all have very different styles, but one thing 
that we have in common is that  we all love rubber stamping, and while we don't 
always use it, it's our real crafting passion. The three of us are great friends, 
despite continent and time zone issues and we all volunteer on Challenges for Days.

And that's why this challenge is going to be for stamped work - proper ink-and-

stamp stamping, no digis. Why Twofers? Well, we'd like to see pairs of things - 

Two Fer the price of one! There will be a new challenge on the  first and third 

Saturday of each month. I wish I could share some of the really cool themes we

have chosen, but I have been sworn to secrecy. 

Our basic rules so far are very simple, although I'm sure they will evolve as the 

blog gets established:

There may be occasional prizes offered - actual prizes that will be mailed to you

 - and we are coordinating that issue right now.  In the meantime, Zoe is 
whipping up FAB BADGE for your blog.

The June Card Chain Challenge Reveal ~ Colorful Bloom

Hi everyone! Thanks for stopping by for this month's Card Chain Challenge Reveal! This month I decided to go with the color palette that Deborah chose:

I am so pleased that I got the colors correct this time AND I get to send my card to fellow Coloradian, Oreet.  I know my card won't take too long to reach her.  I received my card from Barbara in Florida yesterday - I love the texture of this card - she put a ton of work into this! 

What I Used to make my card:

I cut the Rose with Leaves die four separate times, one each in white and the

three Core'dinations colors.  I had actually cut the white rose out before I had decided what I was going to do.  I had even asked Oreet preferred colors to get an idea.  Ultimately, I decided to match the Challenge Colors the best I could and that is what prompted me to cut the rose out 3 more times.  I pieced the design together, cut out the leaves and flowers, glued the whole shebang onto a piece of vanilla card.

I moved the rose around the Vanilla base card a few times and I just wasn't happy with the design. Then I remembered, I have embossing folders!! I got another piece of vanilla card and ran it through the Big Shot using the Cuttlebug embossing folder and once it was embossed, cut it down a bit.  Once I had that little bit of design on the card the next thing to pop into my mind was the sequins.  I fished through my stash of sequins, picked out the ones I felt complimented the cards colors the best and glued them on.  The sentiment needed to be small but I still wanted impact.  Quietfire Designs is a fantastic company, the Design Team and Designer, Suzanne Cannon, are fabulous!  I stamped my chosen sentiment on vanilla card using black ink, trimmed it, cut a pop dot in half  and pop dotted it onto the card.

The colors even inspired my Party Girls card - I used some of the scraps to make their party hats.  So there you go! The colors aren't as vibrant in the pictures as they are in real life - they really pop!  I would be grateful if you'd consider becoming one of my followers and help me meet my goal of 100 new followers for the year.
