You're Dog-Gone Awesome!

As some of you may remember, I have a good friend who is absolutely dog crazy and I made this card just to brighten her day a bit. And, it just so happens that the August monthly theme for Paper Funday Challenges is Cute Critters {you can also choose Anything Goes}!

What I Used to Make my Card:
White Card Base
DCWV Playful Pets 6x6 Stack, #PS-006-00154 {not on DCWV site, but available}
Reverse Confetti Double Stitched Window Cover Panel
Avery Elle Furry Friends stamp set, #ST-15-13 {retired but available}
Avery Elle Furry Friends die set, #D-15-13
{retired but available}
Lawn Fawn Howloween Die Set {crown}, #LF1207
Sizzix/Tim Holtz Mini Bird Crazy & Things die set, {bow tie}, #660949 {retired but available}
Watercolor Paper {I use this}
Zig Clean Color Brush Markers
Gina K Amalgam Ink Pad in Obsidian Ink
Small Piece of Mirror Gold Card
Small Piece of Glitter Pink Card
Red Sparkle Gel Pen

The Inside
As usual, I started this card by coloring and cutting all the pieces of the dog, including the crown, bed, and bow-tie.  Then I used the cover die to make the window panel out of the patterned paper.  I adhered the paper to the card base, placing the items where I wanted and gluing them, too.  I finally stamped the sentiment in the front of the card and inside.  Fairly simple card considering all the elements I used.  :)  I used the mirror card on the crown to pick up the foil accents on the paper and the pink bow because Lola is always dressed to the nines; she has more and better clothes than I do!

I hope this card gave you a smile!  I enjoyed making it and got to use some new {to me} stuff, like the cover panel. I hope to see you at Paper Funday entering your own Cute Critters cards! Have a GREAT day - fondly, Christi

No Hearts or Mushy Stuff for River of Creativity

Hi everyone!!

I love a dry wit; sarcasm is how my family communicates with each other, so I have many years of experience and I think I have a fairly sharp wit.  When I saw this stamp, I laughed for a long time so I knew I had to have it!  I hope you like my card which I feel is a juxtaposition of a sweet looking card with a bit of biting satire.  This is also my July card for the River of Creativity Challenge which has a theme this month of No Hearts or Mushy Stuff - I think this card fits the bill :)

What I Used to Make my Card:
White Card Blank
Pre-Made Distress Oxide Background
Kuretake Gansai Tambi Starry Colors, #904 Champagne Gold {I have the Starry Colors set, available}
Reverse Confetti Double Stitched Window Cover Panel {not available at Reverse Confetti, but is available}
Picket Fence Studios I Snorted Stamp Set, #8142
Gina K Designs Amalgam Obsidian Black Ink
5mm Sequins

Making the Front
I began by adding some splatters of champagne gold watercolor paint onto the Oxide Ink background that I had already made and put aside since it didn't match the card I was making it for; once the splatter was dry, I cut the window panel out with the cover panel die.  I matched up the cover panel with the front of the white card base and then stamped the sentiment onto the card through the window of the oxide ink panel.   I attached the panel to the card, making sure the sentiment showed through the window and lastly, a few small sequins from my stash finished the card off.

I think this is hysterical! I have already formulated many cards using this funny stamp set; plenty of opportunities to get my snark on!  I hope you have enjoyed my card and I would love to know about your favorite snarky stamp sets; please leave your answers in the comments.

Thank you so much for stopping by to check out my card and I hope to see your no hearts and non-mushy cards {or any type of project} in the River of Creativity Challenge! Don't forget to follow us on Blogger and we are also on Instagram {tag your projects with #riverofcreativity and/or #rocnohearts03} and you can also join us on  Twitter at River of Creativity (RiverCreativity), why not subscribe to all three?

Any and all crafts are accepted and encouraged!

Fondly,

Christi

Merry & Bright

Hey everyone!  Are you done with your holiday stuff, or are you like me and creating like a mad woman?  I wasn't going to do Christmas cards this year but then I suddenly got the itch and now I am a card making, photo taking, post writing, fool.

I made my card after seeing this beautiful CAS card on the blog I'm in Haven - Lisa has created for many of our favorite companies and I am sure you will be inspired if you visit her blog just as I was.  First, this is my take on the card:

Of course after the card was finished, I noticed I'm off on my spacing, but you know what I say to that don't you?  That is the charm of being handmade. :)  Before I get into what I used to make my card, check out Lisa's card from I'm in Haven which inspired me:

This amazing card was made by Lisa Andrews, AKA I'm in Haven

What I Used to Make my Card:
White Top Fold Card Base
Authentique 6 x 6 paper pad, Festive {retired but available}
Reverse Confetti Winter Words Dies {retired}
Reverse Confetti Winter Words Coordinates {retired}
Embossing Ink
Gold Embossing Powder

Of course, everything I used to make this card is retired but there are so many different word dies and sentiment stamps out there, I wanted to share it with you anyway.  I die cut the words from plaid Christmas paper, stamped the words, and embossed with gold embossing powder, then it a wrap.  I really love the simplicity of this card so I am going to go through my stash and see if I can recreate the look of the card using products that you can actually buy!

I hope you enjoyed my card!  Time is running out fast now and I am feeling the pressure! Have a great day and I hope to see you very soon!   ~ Christi

Happy Holidays and Peace - A 2Fer!

I find it funny how many cards lead to more cards!  I am always trying to use up scraps and this is a perfect example of doing just that.  Plus, I adore both of these cards - they were super easy to make, and quick, which is something we all need this time of year.  I am very far behind in my Holiday cards; so for that reason, I really need to post these.  This is a 2 Fer.  Yes, you get 2 cards for the blog post of one!  Such a deal!

I made the first card because our neighbors brought us over Christmas cookies; totally unexpected and absolutely delicious!  So I figured I'd whip up a quick card to give to them. This is my Happy Holidays card:

What I Used to Make my Card:
White Card Base
DCWV Blue Noel 12 x 12 Paper Pad {first time I used this paper pack!}
Papertry Ink Say it Simply: You & Yours, #PTD-1485
Spellbinders Nestabilities Fancy Edged Circles, #S4-903 {retired but available}

Sparkle!
This is such an easy card to make; no stamping or coloring, just some die cuts and you are done!  I cut all the elements from the Blue Noel cardstock.  I love using paper that is already coordinated for you.  I trimmed down the base layer, attached it to the white card base, then finished the card by attaching the sentiment to the glittery gold circle, and finally gluing that to the card.  Done!  The card is all set to be delivered to my neighbors' mailbox!

Now as I said, the leftovers from the Happy Holidays card inspired me to make the winter scene card I'm calling Peace.  I used the left over portion of the circle die cut to make the focal point on this card.

What I Used to Make my Card:
White Card Base
DCWV Blue Noel 12 x 12 Paper Pad
Memory Box Stitched Circle Trees, #99843 {retired but available}
Reverse Confetti Winter Words Dies {retired}
Shimmery Gold Cardstock

I cut the circle trees out of shimmery gold card, being careful to leave enough of an edge around the cut.  Over that I layered the leftover circle of gold glittery cardstock.  I ended with

Sparkle & dimension

the sentiment which I cut out a few times to allow for some dimension and interest.  Another card done in record time!

While writing up this post I realized how many retired products I have, and still use.  Just because a company needs to move forward and manufacture new items doesn't mean I retire the products I have.  I hope when you see a creation of mine and don't have the matching products I use, that you become inspired and look at all of your goodies in a new way.  I rarely get rid of anything crafty and if I do, it has nothing to do with the retail status of the product.  If I haven't used something in a few years, or it just isn't my style anymore, I either put it in my giveaway box or sell it.  I love getting crafty goodies in the mail and it makes no difference to me if it is no longer available!  I hope this quick post finds you and yours happy and healthy - I have a few more cards to show you, so stay tuned!  In fact, why not follow me on any or all of the social media platforms I have listed on the sidebar.  If you do follow me, please let me know where I can find you on Social Media and return the favor!  Take care, Christi

Thanks for Everything

I was in a huge bind early last year and I was helped out by a city employee.  She went above and beyond her job description and now that the situation has been resolved I decided to send her a thank you card.  I didn't want it too feminine or too plain; I think I struck a good balance.

What I Used to Make this Card:
Vanilla Card Base
Hero Arts Stamp & Cut Thanks, #DC152
KaiserCraft Fairy Garden 6 1/2 x 6 1/2 Paper Pad, #PP1039 {available online}
Reverse Confetti Striped Frame Cover Panel {not sure if this is retired}
Hero Arts Ink in Robin's Egg Blue {I got mine in the February MMH kit}

I chose a vanilla card base to soften the card a bit.  I cut the Striped Cover Panel out of one of the papers that had "spot varnish" on it; spot varnish is when a shiny coating is added to certain parts of decorative paper.  I die cut
The dimension and that "spot' shine
some plain white paper using the Thanks die, quite a few times, glued them all together and finished with top Thanks cut out of the same paper as the cover panel.  I added the matching blue paper in the center of the panel and stamped for everything using the same stamp set and a matching light blue ink.

I really like how this card came out and I hope she {and her office} like it, too!  I only have a few things from my craft room set up so I am trying to use up some older things I've had.  I'd love it if you'd follow me on social media - I am pretty much everywhere, so just chose one or 2 from the listing on the right hand side of the blog.  Thank you so much for stopping by and if you do end up following me please let me know so I can return the favor ~ hugs, Christi

PS: I actually sent this card out to the person I made it for! Of course, I did it the day before the virus stuff hit so I have no idea if she got it, but I sent it! I get a gold star {finally!}
