Thanks for joining me on the LAST Day, Day 6 of the Cat Lovers Hop 2018!
You can check out all the details here {link to the FAQ and Info page}, at Her Peaceful Garden {this is the link to the main hop page}! Hope you can join in, there are tons of fabulous prizes! If you didn't get to enter the Hop, no worries! You can still go and comment on the entries for a chance to win - you have until Sunday, 11:59 PM to play!
Now the Hop is all done and we will have to wait until next year to play again. I look forward to this hop every year and I want to that all the sponsors {scroll to about the middle of the page and check out ALL the sponsors; be sure to stop by & give them some love!} and especially Janis who works ALL year to put this together! And I can't forget the ladies who helped me work some magic behind the scenes - D.Ann and Karen Ladd. OK, on to the last card!
This card combines my two loves - cats and Halloween! It was very easy to make and lots of fun.
What I Used to Make my Purrfect Halloween Card:
Black Card Base
DCWV Fall Cardstock Matstack Orange {retired}
Ranger Archival Ink in Jet Black
Hero Arts Luna the Halloween Cat Stamps, #CM202
Hero Arts Luna the Halloween Cat Dies, #DI433
White Card
Die-Versions Stitched Nesting Squares, #DV-572 {discontinued?}
Darice Gem Swirl Embossing Folder, #30008380
Dimensional Dots
I began this card by stamping the cats on white card with Jet Black ink - I stamped LOADS of them! Then I cut them all with the coordinating dies and set them aside. I fished around in my card stock and found the Orange background paper and ran it through my Big Shot with the embossing folder. I didn't even know the card had a white core until after I embossed it. It was a pleasant surprise and I like how the white just peeks out.
My idea was to use the cats that hadn't been cut that well. I don't always line up the die perfectly so some of my cuts come out wonky. I needed the cats for a different card I was making, so using up the ones that would have gotten thrown
away was a good idea {I'm going out on a limb here - anyone else feel badly when they are throwing out a person or an animal that isn't quite cut right? I feel needlessly guilty; not because of the waste, but because it's a "living" thing. So I'm the only one, huh? Shocking.} I rifled through the cats and picked out the ones for this card.
I layered them on the background, leaving two flat and two popped up with dimensional dots. Then I cut the sentiment out with the square die and popped that up as well. Glued the whole thing onto a black card and there ya go! One easy Halloween card, ready to go! And I bet you'd have never noticed that those cats weren't cut out purrfectly if I hadn't said anything! Thanks for stopping by, I appreciate it more than you know! Christi

WOW, Christi, the black and orange combo is magnificent! I love the simplicity of it. Great kitties and the embossed background actually looks like gems. :-D
ReplyDeleteBold and beautiful Halloween card! Love how you've clustered the kitties and no, I wouldn't have noticed that they weren't cut purrfectly. Heck, I'm not one to ask about tossing stuff. I don't throw ANYTHING away. My disaster of a craft room proves that. LOL xxD
ReplyDeleteVery cute and simple, but stylish, card!
ReplyDeleteI hate when I don't get my die cuts right ... I just fussy cut
them until they look a little better (to me). I don't throw
anything out either. lol I keep thinking I will give all my
unused die cuts to my 8 year old niece to create with.
I really like that embossing folder. I looked twice to see how you made it before I read your description. I don't like to throw anything away, but I have a hard time remembering to use them!
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful! Lovely orange background! Love the contrast! Thanks so much for sharing with us at CASology! Anna xo
ReplyDeletethis is purrrfect card!

I'm with you on being unable to toss out an image or die cut of a critter...because yeah, it feels like I'm getting rid of something live. This is such a fun CAS design and the embossing on white core card stock almost makes it look like eyes are peeking out from the card base! Okay, now I'm really freaking myself out, haha
ReplyDeleteGreat CAS Halloween card I love it. Thanks for sharing it with us at CraftyCatz this week and good luck in the challenge.x
ReplyDeleteLovely Halloween card, great background and brilliant use of the wonky diecuts.... I'm as you :) I feel badly throwing out persons or animals that aren't cut right, but also the other unanimated themed diecuts.... I try to recycle anything... :D LOL ...But for "leaving" diecuts it's a true drama LOL :D Fool, isn't it? :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card! I love so much the combo of colors and the background!!!
ReplyDeleteFabulous - I love the kitty silhouettes against that gorgeous orange :-)
ReplyDeleteIt was lovely seeing all your creations this Hop and fabulous to meet you x
I'm so like that too..I cant toss out something that has been 'made' - has shape and personality, even if a little 'different' Ah weeell, somehow somewhere a home if found and the layering of your silhouette kitties works well! Striking card!
ReplyDeleteWhat a very pretty CAS Halloween card!! Love the color combo!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining us at DCD this week!
Have a great day.
Gerda
This is fabulous - love the sentiment, cats and orange!!
ReplyDeleteAnd the embossing!!
ReplyDeleteOh, that embossed background looks just like pawprints!!! Terrific! Thanks for the shout out, sweetie, tho I really didn't do all that much this year... Janis is just too kind. :) I have, as always, thoroughly enjoyed your projects!! Thanks so much for all the love you've left on my blog! Looking forward to our next crafty excursion together!
ReplyDeleteWarm, furry hugs,
D.Ann

ReplyDeleteChristi, your Halloween card is perfect! Love your group of wonky cats (although I hadn't noticed until you mentioned it!) on the gorgeous embossed orange card. Thank you so much for helping Janis with the blog hop! It's been another fabulous week and I can't wait to do it all over again next time! x
ReplyDeletePerfect for Halloween. I like the embossed background.
ReplyDeleteAww, this is lovely. Great 'pun'. Thanks for joining in the fun with us at Sweet Stampin' for our 'Humour' challenge this week. Love what you did. Hugs, Wends xoxo Sweet Stampin' DT
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining us at CASology! Love the group of cats die cuts! Fun card!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful card, Christi!! I can't throw anything away either....not so much because it is "alive" but because I made it and I feel challenged to find a use for it SOME day!! I love the idea of clustering not-quite-perfect die cuts together. I did not notice them being a bit wonky until you mentioned it. Love the way your embossed background turned out...with that bit of white showing. I don't remember seeing that folder before. It is perfect for this card.
ReplyDeleteMy spotty internet seems to be working for the moment so I am trying to visit the last 50 or so projects while I can!! Thank you for your help this year and for sharing all your amazing Hop projects!!
